WHAT IS AN E-CIGARETTE?

E-cigarettes are devices that operate by heating a liquid solution, also called e-liquids, that produces an aerosol that is then inhaled. These solutions almost always include nicotine, flavoring, and a humectant, such as propylene glycol, to retain moisture and create the aerosol.
While many of the flavorings and humectants used in e-liquids have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for oral consumption, they have not been approved for inhalation. So currently, the long term effects of using e-cigs are unknown.
While using an e-cigarette has also been known as vaping, the devices produce an aerosol, not a vapor which is just a substance in gas form. Instead aerosol from an e-cigarette contains tiny chemical particles from both the liquid solution and the device.
